This Excell body
was produced by Nordec. They were the only company to offer the binnacle
dash which was designed to ease maintenance and accessibility. This one
is built around a Bowden chassis which dates from the end of the 1950's.
It is constructed of square section tubes and has a Panhard rod and coil
spring rear suspension and independent front suspension. It is powered
by a Ford 1172cc sidevalve engine with tubular 4 branch manifold and
twin SU carburettors. The original gel coat is cherry red, but it has
had several changes of colour in the past.
The car was
purchased from a Fairthorpe Sportscar Club member in March 2006. The
body is in remarkably good condition but the car requires total
restoration. |
